We recognize that some in the campus community may be experiencing difficult circumstances due to the residual effects of the winter storm. Employees are encouraged to contact supervisors as soon as possible to discuss any difficulties returning to work. Similarly, students should communicate with instructors regarding any hardships they are experiencing. As always, faculty have maximum discretion to use pedagogically appropriate tools and strategies for their courses.

É«»¨ÌÃ’s Office of Emergency Management is continuing to track the impact of the winter storm on campus and the south metro Atlanta area.

The safety and well-being of the campus community is our primary concern. Given the continued snow and icy road conditions in parts of metro Atlanta, É«»¨Ìà will continue Modified Operations and Digital Learning Day on Wednesday, Jan. 22.

É«»¨ÌÃ’s Office of Emergency Management has been tracking the extreme weather that is expected to affect our region over the coming days.  There is a possibility of precipitation on the afternoon of Tuesday, January 21, which may result in hazardous road conditions. 

The safety and security of students, faculty, and staff are our utmost priority. As such, É«»¨Ìà will move to Modified Operations and Digital Learning Day on Tuesday, Jan. 21. A  on these policies is available.   

For students: 

  • Be prepared to shift to digital learning on Tuesday, Jan. 21. There will be no in-person instruction. 
  • Ensure you have access to the necessary resources for online instruction and look for information from your instructors. 
  • Some student activities, events, programs, and services may be cancelled, reduced, or shifted to virtual modalities. Check the sponsoring department for the most current information about co-curricular offerings; this  is a good place to find department websites and other contact information. 
  • Remain off the roadways to the greatest extent possible. 
  • If you live off-campus and lose electrical power, heat or hot water, some buildings on campus will be available for É«»¨Ìà students to be accessed by BuzzCard, so that you have access to internet and other necessities.  

For instructors: 

  • Please review the . During Digital Learning Days, in-person instruction is not permitted. 
  • Shift to digital learning on Tuesday, as we will function under Modified Operations.   
  • Please be flexible with students during this time. 

For employees: 

  • Employees may perform their duties remotely or work in person as part of critical operations. Regular benefits-eligible employees who cannot work remotely may be eligible for inclement weather pay. Others, such as hourly employees, contractors, affiliates, and student workers should consult their supervisor or timekeeper.   
  • Supervisors, timekeepers, and/or local HR representatives will provide specific details for each department by job type, ensuring flexibility during this period.
