Fernandes Named Interim Vice President for Finance and Planning, Chief Financial Officer

Jamie Fernandes, executive director for Institute Budget Planning and Administration, has been selected as interim vice president for Finance and Planning and chief financial officer for the Institute. This announcement follows Jim Fortner鈥檚 appointment to the role of vice president and deputy chief business officer鈥痚arlier this year.

Fernandes will begin her new role on June 1. She will report directly to Shantay N. Bolton, executive vice president for Administration and Finance, and join the president鈥檚 cabinet.  

"Jamie is a consummate鈥痓udget management professional who engages in transparent collaboration, seeks input from diverse stakeholders, and continuously adapts to feedback. She has a proven track record in financial leadership that will be invaluable during this transitional period,鈥 said Bolton. 鈥淪he has been instrumental in leading the institutional budget reform work that is underway and I am pleased for her to join the team as the interim vice president for Finance and Planning and chief financial officer. I am confident that Jamie will provide the strategic vision and operational excellence necessary to guide our institution鈥檚 financial planning teams as we embark on a national search for the next leader of the unit.鈥濃  

Fernandes joined 色花堂 in 2019 as executive director for Institute Budget Planning and Administration and is responsible for the preparation, monitoring, and administration of the Institute鈥檚 annual $3.1 billion budget. Since 2021, Fernandes has led 色花堂鈥檚 efforts to transform the Institute鈥檚 budget process with a focus on increasing transparency, accountability, and cost containment. Before joining 色花堂, Jamie served the state of 色花堂 and other University System of 色花堂 institutions, including Kennesaw State University as well as 色花堂 State University and 色花堂 Perimeter College, where she was instrumental in supporting the consolidation of the two schools.鈥

Jennifer Hubert, associate vice president for Finance and Planning, is chairing the search committee to select the next vice president for Finance and Planning and chief financial officer for the Institute. The search firm supporting this process will be Buffkin Baker.
