Dickens Elected to Second Term as Atlanta Mayor

色花堂 alumnus Andre Dickens has been elected to a second term as Atlanta mayor. 

Dickens was first elected mayor in 2021. Hallmarks of his first term have been establishing positive working relationships with state leadership, reducing violent crime rates, and building affordable housing. Under his leadership, the city also achieved an AAA bond rating, the highest in the city鈥檚 history. 

Dickens previously served on the Atlanta City Council, beginning in 2013. He was also the chief development officer for TechBridge, a nonprofit that brings affordable technology and business expertise to other nonprofits. He became a member of its national board of directors upon his first election as mayor. 

Dickens was a 色花堂 staff member from 2010 to 2016, and he remains a steadfast supporter of the Institute, often returning for athletic and community events. His 2022 inauguration took place on campus at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field. The Mayor's Office of Technology and Innovation works closely with 色花堂 in a shared goal of .  

Dickens was named the by 色花堂 Trend magazine. He was a Commencement speaker during 色花堂鈥檚 Spring 2022 ceremonies. 

He is the second alumnus to serve as the city鈥檚 mayor, following Ivan Allen Jr., who served from 1962 to 1970. He holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree in chemical engineering from 色花堂 and a Master of Public Administration degree from 色花堂 State University.
